Council of Management
Role and Structure The Village Association is managed by the Council of Management (COM). The Council of Management of the Village Association is the elected Board of Directors, accountable to the Village Association members, and is responsible for ensuring that all legal duties (Companies Act, Employment Legislation, Health & Safety) and contractual obligations (covenants to maintain the village grounds etc.) are fulfilled. In accordance with its Memorandum & Articles of Association, the Council consists of nine members. It appoints Standing Sub-Committees, with Council members as Chairmen, and has the power to appoint and remove sub-committee recommendations.
Annual Budgeting and Planning In conjunction with the Finance and Strategy Committee and the VA’s Financial Advisor, each Committee prepares draft budgets for consideration by the Council of Management and VA Members at special Budget meetings held in March/April. The resolution determining the level of VA contributions is made at the VA’s Annual General Meeting held in June.
Cycle of Meetings COM meets eight times a year, at intervals of 6-7 weeks. Between Council Meetings there are meetings of each of the Standing Sub-Committees.
Any matter involving a policy change will be fully debated. VA members who are not members of COM, are entitled to attend regular COM meetings as observers, and may speak at the invitation of the Chairman.
Minutes of the Council of Management are posted here once they have been confirmed as an accurate record at the following meeting.
